The Railway is open Sunday afternoons from 13.00 to 16.00 (weather permitting) from the first Sunday in April (or Easter if it’s in March) through until the end of September. We're also open on Bank Holidays and New Years day. We also open for special events throughout the year. For more information see our calendar.
If you'd like to ride on the railway, trains leave every 5 minutes from the station. Just turn up, buy a ticket and enjoy the ride. Everyone's welcome, under 3's must be accompanied by an adult but ride free.
If you’re booking a party event with the Ryton Pools visitor centre you can also book the railway giving your guests exclusive rides.
Passenger trains are usually hauled by electric, steam or even petrol powered locomotives, a lot depends on how busy the railway is and the weather. We aim to run several steam only services during the year, these are published on our calendar.
The pictures below show the main locomotives in use, but members occasionally bring their own locos too:

If you would like to help run Ryton Pools Miniature Railway you can join the Coventry Model Engineering Society
You don't have to be an engineer or even into engineering and you don't need previous knowledge or experience. You'll be shown how to do everything you need to help run the railway. The jobs are varied and appropriate for all ages, skills and abilities. You're never too young or too old to help run a railway.
This give your guests unlimited rides on the railway for about half an hour before or after your party
Note: due to track maintenance and a commitment to public running this option is subject to availability – please check at the visitors centre.
